IP Address Lookup

Look up geolocation, ISP, timezone, and network details for any IP address — including your own. Uses the ipapi.co public API. All lookups are client-side.

Geolocation accuracy depends on the ISP's registered network data. VPNs and proxies will show the VPN server's location. Data provided by ipapi.co.

What is IP Address Lookup?

The IP Address Lookup tool retrieves geolocation and network information for any IPv4 or IPv6 address using the ipapi.co public API. For your own IP, the tool detects it automatically without you needing to know it first. The information returned includes the geographic location (country, region, city), the ISP or hosting provider, the Autonomous System Number (ASN), the time zone, and whether the address is associated with a known hosting provider or VPN.

How to use this tool

  1. 1 Leave the input blank and click 'Look up my IP' to see your own public IP address and its details.
  2. 2 Enter any IPv4 or IPv6 address to look up its geolocation and network information.
  3. 3 Read the results — country, city, ISP, ASN, and timezone are shown in a structured table.
  4. 4 Note that geolocation is approximate (typically city-level for consumer IPs, data-centre level for server IPs).

When would you use this?

  • Verifying that a VPN or proxy is correctly masking your real IP and showing the expected exit-node location.
  • Investigating suspicious login attempts by looking up the originating IP to understand which network or country it belongs to.
  • Confirming that a server's IP resolves to the correct hosting region, particularly after a cloud provider migration.

Frequently asked questions — IP Address Lookup

How do I find my public IP address?

Leave the input field empty and click 'Look up my IP'. The tool automatically detects and displays your current public IP address — this is the IP address that websites and servers see when you connect to them. Note that this is your public-facing IP assigned by your ISP, not your local/private IP (e.g. 192.168.x.x) assigned by your router.

What is an ASN?

An ASN (Autonomous System Number) is a unique identifier assigned to a network or group of networks under a single administrative entity — typically an ISP, hosting provider, university, or large corporation. For example, AS15169 belongs to Google, and AS16509 belongs to Amazon AWS. ASNs are used in BGP (Border Gateway Protocol) routing to identify which organisation controls a block of IP addresses. Seeing an unfamiliar ASN in a lookup result can help identify whether an IP belongs to a VPN provider, cloud host, or specific ISP.

Can I look up any IP address?

You can look up any public IPv4 or IPv6 address. Private/reserved ranges (10.x.x.x, 192.168.x.x, 172.16–31.x.x, ::1, etc.) are not routable on the public internet and will return no useful geolocation data. The accuracy of geolocation varies: consumer ISP IPs are typically located to city level, while data-centre and cloud provider IPs may resolve to the data-centre location rather than the user's actual location.

Lookups are made directly from your browser to ipapi.co. No query data passes through MonitorGiant servers.

Looking up your own IP address location, or trying to find the country, ISP, and timezone behind an IP? This tool queries the ipapi.co geolocation API directly from your browser — no account, no API key needed. It returns the registered country, region, city, timezone, ISP, and ASN (autonomous system number). Useful for debugging CDN edge routing, verifying VPN exit nodes, identifying traffic sources in access logs, or confirming which region an API is being served from.
