How OpenGraph & Meta Inspector works
OpenGraph (OG) meta tags control how your pages appear when shared on social media — the title, description, and preview image shown in Twitter/X cards, LinkedIn posts, Facebook shares, and messaging apps like Slack and iMessage. This tool lets you inspect any live URL's tags or build and preview your own.
- 1
Inspect any live URL
Paste a URL into the Inspect tab and click Inspect. The tool fetches the page via a CORS proxy, extracts all og:, twitter:, and standard meta tags, and renders them into the social card previews instantly. A full tag table shows every property found — colour-coded by type.
- 2
Build your own tags manually
Switch to Manual mode to type your title, description, image URL, and other fields directly. Or use Paste HTML mode to drop in your page's <head> section — the tool auto-extracts all tags and populates the fields. All four preview panels update in real time.
- 3
Check all four social card previews
The preview panels show exactly how your page will look on Twitter/X (large-image and summary card), LinkedIn, Facebook, and Slack/iMessage. Character count warnings flag titles over 70 chars or descriptions over 160 chars that risk being truncated.
- 4
Copy the generated meta tag HTML
In Manual or Paste mode, the Generated Meta Tags section outputs copy-ready HTML for your <head> block — covering og:, twitter:, title, and description. Click Copy HTML and paste it straight into your page template.
URL fetching uses a public CORS proxy — only the URL you enter leaves your browser. All parsing, preview rendering, and tag extraction happen client-side. Nothing is stored.
OpenGraph meta tags determine the title, description, and image shown when a link is shared on social media. Missing or incorrect og:image tags are the most common cause of broken link previews on Twitter, LinkedIn, and Slack. This free OG inspector fetches any live URL and shows all its meta tags alongside accurate social card previews — no extensions, no sign-up required.
