How Markdown Preview works

Markdown is a lightweight markup language that converts plain text into formatted HTML. This editor renders your Markdown in real time using a built-in parser that supports the GitHub Flavored Markdown (GFM) specification — the most widely used Markdown dialect.

  1. 1

Write or paste Markdown in the left pane

Type directly in the editor, or paste existing Markdown content. The preview pane on the right updates instantly as you type. Use the toolbar buttons to insert formatting without memorising syntax — click B for bold, I for italic, or the table and task-list buttons for GFM-specific features.

  2. 2

Use the toolbar for quick formatting

The toolbar inserts Markdown syntax at the cursor position. Supported shortcuts include headings (H1–H3), bold, italic, strikethrough, inline code, fenced code blocks, blockquotes, unordered and ordered lists, task lists, links, and images.

  3. 3

Toggle light / dark preview and export

Switch the preview between dark and light themes using the toggle above the preview pane. When you're done, click "Copy HTML" to copy the rendered HTML output, or "Download .md" to save the raw Markdown file.

All Markdown parsing runs locally in your browser — no content is ever sent to a server. Your documents remain private.
