How Markdown → LinkedIn Post works
LinkedIn only renders plain text — it strips all HTML and Markdown. This converter transforms your structured Markdown into a vertical, engagement-optimised plain-text layout using Unicode bold characters and emoji formatting that LinkedIn's algorithm rewards.
- 1
Paste your Markdown or load the sample
Write in standard Markdown — headings, bullet lists, bold, blockquotes, and code all convert. The preview updates live on the right.
- 2
Toggle formatting options
Enable or disable Unicode bold headings, emoji bullet points (•), horizontal separators, and automatic hashtag collection at the bottom.
- 3
Review the LinkedIn preview
The right panel shows exactly how your post will look in LinkedIn — white background, plain font. The character counter shows your position against the 3,000 character limit.
- 4
Copy and paste into LinkedIn
Click Copy and paste directly into the LinkedIn post editor. LinkedIn preserves line breaks and Unicode characters, so the formatting will appear as shown.
All conversion happens locally in your browser using JavaScript string processing. Your text is never sent to a server.
Frequently asked questions — Markdown → LinkedIn Post
Why does LinkedIn not support Markdown?
LinkedIn uses its own internal formatting system. Markdown syntax like **bold** appears as literal asterisks. The converter transforms your Markdown into plain text with Unicode characters and spacing that achieve a similar visual effect inside LinkedIn.
What are the Unicode bold characters?
Unicode contains "Mathematical Bold" variants of every letter (𝗔𝗕𝗖...). These render as bold in most environments including LinkedIn, making them the standard trick for bold text in plain-text contexts.
What is the 3,000 character limit?
LinkedIn currently caps post length at 3,000 characters. Beyond that, the post is truncated with a "see more" link. The converter shows a warning if your output exceeds this limit.
Will hashtags work if they appear mid-post?
Yes — LinkedIn activates hashtags wherever they appear. The "Move hashtags to bottom" option simply collects all hashtags from throughout your post and places them as a block at the end, which is the style most used by high-engagement posts.
