Privacy Policy

Last updated: 25 May 2026  ·  Applies to tools.monitorgiant.com

1. Overview

MonitorGiant Tools (tools.monitorgiant.com) is a collection of free, client-side developer and security utilities operated by MonitorGiant. This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you use this website, how it is used, and your rights in relation to it.

This policy applies solely to tools.monitorgiant.com. For the privacy practices of the main MonitorGiant platform at monitorgiant.com, please refer to that site's privacy policy.

2. Data We Do Not Collect

The vast majority of tools on this site run entirely in your browser. This means:

  • No account or sign-up is required.
  • Text, files, passwords, keys, tokens, and other inputs you enter into our tools are never transmitted to MonitorGiant servers.
  • We do not store, log, or process your tool inputs or outputs.
  • We do not sell, rent, or share personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

Exception: A small number of tools (SSL Checker, Is It Down for Everyone?, HTTP Headers Inspector, WHOIS & Domain Age Checker, IP Address Lookup) send a domain name or IP address to a server-side edge function or public API to perform their check. The domain/IP you query is not stored and is discarded immediately after the response is returned. These tools display a "Checked via secure edge function" badge to make this clear.

3. Information We Collect Automatically

Like most websites, this site collects standard web analytics data through Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4 (GA4). This includes:

  • Pages visited and time spent on each page
  • General geographic location (country/city level, derived from IP address)
  • Browser type, operating system, and device category
  • Referring website or search engine
  • Tool interactions (e.g. which tool was used — no input data, only the fact of use)

This data is collected in aggregate and is used solely to understand how the site is used and to improve the tools. IP addresses are anonymised before storage. We do not use this data to identify individual users.

4. Cookies

This site uses cookies placed by Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager. These are first-party analytics cookies that help us understand aggregate usage patterns. No personally identifiable information is stored in these cookies.

We do not use tracking cookies for advertising profiling, retargeting, or cross-site behavioural tracking.

You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking at any time by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

5. Advertising (Google AdSense)

This site displays advertisements served by Google AdSense. Google may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings or by visiting aboutads.info. For more information on how Google uses data when you use our site, see Google's Privacy & Terms.

6. Third-Party APIs Used by Specific Tools

The following tools make outbound requests to public third-party APIs on your behalf:

Tool Third-party API Data sent
DNS / DKIM Inspector Cloudflare DNS-over-HTTPS Domain name queried
WHOIS & Domain Age Checker RDAP public registry APIs Domain name queried
IP Address Lookup ipapi.co IP address queried
Is It Down for Everyone? MonitorGiant edge function Domain name or URL queried
SSL Certificate Checker MonitorGiant edge function Domain name queried
HTTP Headers Inspector MonitorGiant edge function URL queried

No input data beyond the queried domain/IP is sent. None of these APIs receive personal information.

7. Data Retention

Since we do not collect personal data through tool usage, there is nothing to retain or delete. Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months in accordance with our GA4 configuration, after which it is automatically deleted.

8. Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right of access — request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to erasure — request deletion of your personal data.
  • Right to object — object to processing based on legitimate interests.
  • Right to portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • CCPA (California) — California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete it, and the right to opt out of its sale. We do not sell personal information.

Because this site collects minimal personal data (only aggregate analytics), most requests can be directed to Google Analytics via their opt-out tools. For any other requests, please contact us.

9. Children's Privacy

This site is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

11. Contact

If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or wish to exercise your rights, please contact us via the MonitorGiant contact page.
